Extra Deep Pocket Bed Sheets – How to Pick Out the Right Ones
Whenever someone goes shopping there is always one rule to keep in mind: If the price is too good to be true, more than likely it is. You can’t get quality for cheap. No, you have to put forth a pretty penny in order to get the most for your money. Generally, if you do pay a cheap price for any consumer item, you willalmost always get what you paid for. Extra deep pocket bed sheets are a bit pricier than your average set of bed sheets. But, having a comfortable bed is the best investment you could possibly make.
It’s important to look for quality when shopping for extra deep pocket bed sheets. Some bargain sheets are mostly made with inferior stitching and poor quality fabric. This can greatly affect how the bed sheets will fit on your bed. Poor stitching is actually quick stitching. This is a technique manufacturers use to keep their costs significantly lower. Also, the elastic band that is sewn into the edge of the seam may be poor quality. A strong elastic band is critical so that it will hold your bed sheets in place. A weak band will allow the sheets to move about and pull off the mattress easily.
One very irritating thing I found out about poor quality extra deep pocket bed sheets is improper dying. If your bed sheet material is improperly dyed or cheaply dyed, the colors have a good chance of bleeding when you wash it. Or, the colors will easily and quickly fade if the dye isn’t properly done. Also, the thin fabric that is used for cheap bed sheet material is flimsy and uncomfortable to sleep on. I found myself returning a very ‘bargain’ priced bed sheet set I had purchased from JC Penny that was terrible. They bunched up, never stayed in place and somewhat itchy!
A good choice for most bed linens is cotton. Cotton has been the prime choice for hundreds of years and it will continue to be. Cotton is made from the cotton fibers that are harvested from the bloom of cotton plants. High threaded bed linens and materials are more durable and softer. Some of the best extra deep pocket bed sheets will have a thread count of 200 at the very least. Some can go higher from up to 400 and some of the most quality bed sheets have a thread count of 1,000.
