Bedskirts – The Finishing Touch for Your Bedroom

Bedskirts – The Finishing Touch for Your Bedroom

Are you overwhelmed with stuff and have too little space?  Under the bed is a terrific space to store shoes, linens, sweaters, and more.  Under the bed storage boxes are widely available at organization stores, large discount stores, and online.  They can transform the empty space under your bed to a useful area, expanding the functional square footage in your home.  However, the ends of these plastic boxes are not very attractive.  Bedskirts that coordinate with your bedding can give you the finished decorative look that sets a bedroom apart while concealing storage boxes.

Bedskirts, also called dust ruffles, are available in many different sizes and designs.  Standard sizes like twin, full, queen, and king can be found anywhere that sells bedding.  However, nonstandard sizes like twin XL, twin XXL, three quarter, full XL, full XXL, queen XL, Olympic queen, and California king are found more easily at specialty stores like Bed Linens Etc.,   They even make dust ruffles for specially designed beds, like a split queen, split king, or split California king bed.  The basic design of dust ruffles is that the piece of fabric that falls from the edge of the mattress to the floor is sewn to another piece of fabric that lies under the mattress or box springs.

Using non-intrusive bedskirts can help allergy sufferers as well.  These types of dust ruffles reduce the dust and allergen build up under the mattress and under the bed.  Encasing your box springs or mattress in a dust cover can also help reduce allergy reactions in the bedroom.  The mites that can build up in mattresses can exacerbate allergies, especially because you are breathing all night while you sleep.  Allergen covers and hypoallergenic, non-intrusive dust ruffles limit dust and mite accumulation.

No matter what your personal decorating style is, you can give your bedroom the finished look with a dust ruffle.  Oh, and dust ruffles don’t have to have ruffles.  There are very modern, tailored bedskirts in many fabric and color choices.  Cotton and cotton blends are the most prevalent.  Just like sheets, on a dust ruffle, the thread count shows how many threads there are per square inch of fabric.  This will affect the feel and sheen of the bed skirt.  There are styles and colors to match your other bedding choices too.  You can make your bedroom an inviting, functional, and healthy place for you to relax and sleep.

Sleep Well,

Rose
