Olympic Queen Fitted Sheets – A Snug Fit for an Exceptional Mattress

Olympic Queen Fitted Sheets – A Snug Fit for an Exceptional Mattress

When you don’t have enough floor space for a king sized bed but need more mattress space than a queen sized bed, you turn to the Simmons mattress company.  Around the year 2000, they developed and released a new mattress design that adds six inches to the standard queen mattress.  It is called the Olympic Queen.  This is a fantastic solution for couples who want more space without overfilling the room.  However, it can be difficult to find Olympic queen sheets for this nonstandard mattress size.  Some sheet companies like Bed Linens Etc., make specialized sheet sets and individually sold Olympic queen fitted sheets, but they are hard to find in your local storefront.

The easiest place to find them is online.  Specialty bedding stores, like Bed Linens Etc., will offer you the most variety in quality, comfort, and color so you can get exactly what you want.  Sheet sets are wonderfully coordinated and offer a pulled together look for your bedroom.  However, if your budget does not allow for buying a whole new sheet set, you might look into purchasing Olympic queen fitted sheets to use with your queen sized flat sheet and current pillow cases.  They are available in many different colors and fabrics.

The traditional material for Olympic queen fitted sheets, and sheets in general, is cotton or a cotton blend (usually with polyester).  Egyptian cotton and Pima cotton are especially luxurious.  Consumers should also pay attention to the thread count number.  Thread count indicates the number of threads that are woven into each square inch of the sheet’s fabric.  The higher the thread count, the more silky and smooth the sheets will be.  However, the ply and picks numbers also help indicate quality.  If you have single ply, single pick construction with 400 thread count, the feeling quality is even better than some thread counts that are much higher but use multiple plies and picks.

Other fabrics that Olympic queen fitted sheets can be made out of include flannel and bamboo.  Flannel is the fabric of choice for people in colder climates because it is cozy and very warm.  Portuguese double brushed flannel is buttery soft and fantastically indulgent without a hue price tag.  Bamboo fibers create thermally regulating silky smooth sheets that are cooler in summer than cotton.  They are also naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic.  In addition, bamboo is environmentally friendly because it is a quickly renewable resource.  If your Olympic queen mattress is extra thick, you can get fitted sheets in deep pockets or even extra deep pockets.

Sleep Well,

Rose
